GSA - Gender Sexuality Alliance

Link Crew is focused on 9th grade students starting high school right. Link Crew members cares about others and strive to make 9th grade students' first year in high school better than our own, even if it was an amazing experience for us.

We lead orientation activities, volunteer at school events, tutor and lead classroom activities to help the newest Lakers navigate the brand new experience that is high school.

Peer Mentoring

This program is for seniors who are interested in making freshmen and sophomores feel more comfortable, welcome, and safe at school. Peer mentorship is designed to provide underclassmen with a senior peer they can go to when they are feeling stressed, overwhelmed, or feeling like they could use some extra guidance navigating high school.

Sailboat Racing Team

The goal of the team is to develop an understanding of sailing fundamentals, racing strategies, and a general enjoyment of sailing.

The Southwest Sailboat Racing Team has both a fall and spring season. Sailors who have progressed to racing level can compete weekly in local and/or regional regattas.

Who is it for?

Any student in grade 7-12. The sailing team accepts everyone from expert sailors to those who have never been on a boat. Come with a partner or get paired up with a similarly skilled sailor.

When?

Tuesdays - Thursdays from 4 - 6:30 p.m.
Spring Season: April 3 (based on ice out) to May 27
Fall Season: Sept. 4 - Nov. 1 (based on weather)

Where?

Minneapolis Sailing Center
3010 E. Calhoun Pkwy.

Located at the Northeast corner of Bde Maka Ska next to Tin Fish restaurant

What are we going to sail?

The 420 is the hottest boat in youth sailing, measuring 14 feet long and weighing 260 pounds. It carries a mainsail and jib, and is very responsive and fun to sail. Club 420s are raced in local, national and world championships at the high school and collegiate levels. You will sail on Bde Maka Ska, Lake Minnetonka, and White Bear Lake against other high school sailors.
